I'm thinking of attending a Radio Control soaring contest in few weeks that will be held at the South Fork Ranch. For you TX folks, what is most convenient airport to this location from your experience. Once I figure that out I'll evaluate lodging options.

Be aware that KTKI will be closed for about a month due to rebuilding of the runway sometime in October. Check the notams before you leave! Apparently the new runway will be able to handle the weight of my new 767 project :D.

Presently the schedule call for closure mid October for 4-6 weeks.

Check out Rockwall F46. Should be 16 miles to SF Ranch.
Hope it helps. Also keeps you out of Class B. Cheap gas
too. 3.15..
 
100LL at Rockwall is $3.70. Jet A is $3.15.
Last I checked, Mesquite (HQZ) was $3.55 and Sherman (SWI) was $3.37.
