Getting Started

I bought a kit that was pretty much at the QB stage. There is still plenty to do without having to drive 2000 rivets. It?s been a very enjoyable experience and if I did another I?d start with a QB.

If you can afford it....

I am new to this forum and am thinking about buying an RV-8 or RV-3 kit. Do you recommend the quick start or standard kits?

Quickbuild! You'll save many, many hours and be flying in about 1/3 to1/2 less time.

Downside is that there's a $11K difference from the factory between the two for the RV-8, and a fairly long lead time.

RV-3's used to have an option for a quickbuild wing, I don't believe it's available anymore. RV-3's also have a VERY long lead time and are very immature kits compared to the RV-8

Whats your goal? Do you want to build, fly, save money, personalize, etc.? Keep in mind you can buy a flying RV-3 for the cost of the RV-8 QB kit.
