RV8 Rudder Trim

My 8 needed a tab on the rudder, as it requires a touch of right rudder in level cruise. I was considering various options when I came across this excellent idea in Danny King's RV8 at Oshkosh a few weeks ago.

I did some googling and couldn't find anything else like this, so I figured I'd post this here. Works great, and does not interfere with normal rudder operation no matter how tight I get it.

Thread is 5/8-11

I don't feel any drag in the pedals though it does click and clank while taxiing.

Great idea. Do you find that you periodically adjust it in flight or did you just need to set it once to center the ball at cruise speed?

It generally doesn't need adjusting unless you change direction or something. Beats the **** out of holding my foot on the rudder or a fixed tab that only accounts for one specific mode of flight.

Rudder trim

The concept comes from a Sport Aviation from the 60's. Bias springs on the elevator have been used since 1953 on Wittman Tailwinds. I have three axis bias spring trim on my current Tailwind.
Also used on Cherokee rudders since early 60's and Piper Apache elevator in 1953.
Eliminates any chance of flutter in elevator tab which has caused fatal accident's, among them an early Cessna Conquest.

I went with a simple no frill approach.
