G696 Battery

Hello ALL

Will anyone of you here on VAF know of a good source to purchase a Garmin 696's battery other than Garmin??

I just purchased a 696 for a friend and the battery is no longer holding a charge..

No aftermarket sources, but they're not difficult to rebuild. I've done a couple of them. If you can solder, it's fairly simple.

BatteriesAmerica.com has a cell pack pre-configured for this. Just search garmin 696 on their site. Just bought one last month, good service and delivery

Is this a direct replacement or is there something you need to add? I noticed there are some sort of electronics attached to the batteries in the 696.

This is definitely a "some assembly required" project, but no additional stuff needs to be purchased. Once you cut the plastic case open, you can compare the existing install and the new cell pack to see what gets reused. This project requires some solid soldering skills.
