Years of RV Enjoyment (Proof in Pictures)
Evidence of fun.
Over the years it seems that more and more photos of RVs in a pristine state are appearing online. I thought I would take a stab at spotlighting, with the help of others, images that convey years and years of RV enjoyment. The more worn the better - the other end of the spectrum. They all tell a story.....a story I'd like to hear.
Starting with some photos I took - please add your own pictures!
Where the top canopy latch is rotated - sometimes it drags across the roll bar. You can see a slight depression along the top of the roll bar from years of taxiing with the canopy held open here. Vibrations and time...
RV-6 N617AR Tip up. Ten years of wear:
N617AR RV-6. Passenger side side rail - a few hundred hits with seat belt buckles:
Throttle quadrant area - paint rubbed off by wrist. Kay Frizzell RV-8A:
Pilot floorboard: Kay Frizzell RV-8A (I love this picture):
Fuselage - Kay Frizzell RV-8A:

Doug, I just had a restraining order issued. You're not allowed to go near my airplane with a camera

I am pretty sure that is all just one airplane, Doug's. I will post a few pics of mine. It is no hangar queen but doesn't have quite as much character as Doug's.
[ed. It's two planes My -6 and Kay's -8A. Both based at 52F. ;^), dr]

What's clearly needed is a RV reconditioning program. Something that cleans up scratches, paint defects, faults of any kind. The airplane goes immediately to the head of the line of show-winners. Down time would be about a half hour.
Sadly, mine doesn't qualify. It never was perfect (not even close) and thus in need of refurb. I suppose you'd say it just needs the furb.
It bears all the visible faults from a first-time build as well as some wear. But, it sure does fly well.

The beat-up pickup truck thread (my kind of ride.) Love it! Shiny, spit and polish, fancy paint ain't my thing.

Reminds me of something a friend said back in college:
"Never trust an airplane that still has paint on the floorboards"
