Garmin 175 setup

I installed a GPS 175 with a Trig 22, GRT HxR, approach fast track wiring. Can anyone give me a copy of all the setting for everything. I’m not getting a gps signal to my trig or glass panel. The GRT site doesn’t help. I’m getting frustrated and the FAA is too because my ADSB fails due to no gps signal. Has anyone seen this or can you recommend me to a knowledgeable person I can take it to? The. Serial port is not getting a reading.

175 to Trig Settings

I have never worked with GRT, but I can help if you want to just run the serial data directly to the Trig. Pick 1, 2, or 3. You will also need an altitude encoder input into a different GPS 175 serial port other than the one you used for the Trig or from the GRT into the Trig directly.

GPS 175 RS232 Port 1
Connect 175 pin 52 to Trig pin 5
Connect 175 pin 9 to Trig pin 4

GPS 175 RS232 Port 2
Connect 175 pin 51 to Trig pin 5
Connect 175 pin 8 to Trig pin 4

GPS 175 RS232 Port 3
Connect 175 pin 50 to Trig pin 5
Connect 175 pin 7 to Trig pin 4

To get into the Configuration Mode. Press and hold center knob in, then press the On button until the Garmin screen displays, then release the On button, while still pressing the small knob. Then release the small knob when the configuration Mode screen displays.

Press Setup, then Interfaces, then RS232.

Set the 175 serial port for the 175 pin out you used to Garmin ADSB+ Format 1.

Restart the 175.

On the Trig, to go into config menu, hold the FN button while turning the unit on.

Go down to GPS Input and select ADSB+ and set GPS/TIS Rate to 9600.

If you need more info, you can email me at [email protected], and I will try to help.

There also is a Trig 22 setup supplement in the Document section. https://grtavionics.com/miscellaneous-documentation/ It is towards the bottom of the page.

There is also a firmware update for the Trig 22 to allow more GPS compatibility. https://grtavionics.com/miscellaneous-software/ It is the last item on the list. Check that out also.

This ^^^ is what you want to read. I assume you have the small adaptor gizmo. In addition to pin 5 (plus some ground pin) for RS-232 gps input using format "ADSB+", you need to have pin 13 (power on) grounded, and you may wish to bring pin 20 (IDENT) out to your stick if you want to use a stick button for ident (I do, and find it helpful).
For getting gps data into your EFIS, I think you need to hook up both ARINC and another RS 2323 line, from gps to HXr. (I don't have a 175). I forget the format needed but it's in the GRT Hx manual. It is NOT ADSB+, as GRT cannot read this proprietary-to-Garmin format.
