GPS175 GNC355 GRT Issue

Two of us have new Garmin 2” GPS installed feeding GRT EFIS. They were installed at different times by different people and follow the GRT setup recommendations. Both replaced earlier GPS, a GNS430 and a GPS 155XL.

We are experiencing a waypoint ID problem. When we enter a direct to or flightplan waypoint destination, the new GPS indicates the desired waypoint on its display and navigates to it correctly. However the waypoint identification information sent to the GRT EFIS (RS232 Aviation Output 1 format) sometimes is the desired waypoint and sometimes is ALT with the correct heading, distance and time data. Sometimes it happens more than once during a flight, ie correct to start, changes to ALT and changes back. It is noticeable on the GRT if you display the waypoint data box. You might not notice it if you don’t. Neither of us had this problem with our previous Garmin GPS and there have been no GRT software changes.

GRT feels it is a Garmin problem. Garmin thinks it is a GRT problem.

Has anyone else experienced this? Did you find a solution? Thanks.
