Just to make sure you know, Van’s does sell the pre-drilled and cut panel blanks for the RV-14. Why they don’t include them in the kit (like they always have done) is beyond me.
The panel screws are #8. This would be at the limit for countersinking into the 0.063” panel. I would never do this as the screws would then tend to ruin the panel finish every time you removed then - unless you add tinnerman washers. I suggest however that a round head #8 screw and washer would look a lot better.

correct, as you take the screw out it will cut into the paint. I have round head and nylon washers on interior screws that are removed often (same on some outside screws as well.
