Will be leaving early for sun n fun wondering about finding an airport near a golf course on my way down. Route will be say Indianapolis to Atlanta to Lakeland. Any experiences out there?

Golf course

KFVX 9 holes course adjacent to airport ( really too close golf balls hit the hangars regularly North facing hangars need to keep doors shut) FWIW but probably too far East of your course

KFFC Peachtree City ga

Multiple golf courses near airport plus Spruce east .

Many of our Falcon RV Squadron members are golfers. Perhaps some will speak up.

Miles of trails here with about 12,000 registered golf carts in town

Student pilot currently completing solo work here... A BIG RV fan already and I've never even flown in one but I have checked out several of them. I hope one is in my future!

I've been wondering for a while, how well do golf clubs, gun cases, and fishing rods fit in the small baggage area behind the seats of the RV7 or 9? Do some extend the baggage area rearward with a bag or boot for lightweight rod tips that will keep balance within limits?

thx, Garland in VA

Ive been to many golf outings in my -7 and I can make it work. What I mean by that is I do have to take the clubs out of the bag for them to fit well. A little inconvenient but works well.

Falcon looks like a good stop, thanks

Also look at French Lick, Indiana - nice hotels, casino, and a couple golf courses. The airport is close, and the resort will pick you up.

Once you get to fl check out 2RR river ranch. They have a nice runway and a 9 hole course across the road.

Dave....French Lick gets my vote

Dave,
French Lick resort is great...wonderful courses, great hotel, casino if you like that stuff....and the airport is great. I landed there in November on the way to Dallas in my 8. The resort will come pick you up in a shuttle.
Doug

Bye the way...when are you leaving?

River ranch is still closed. Heavy equipment all over runway. Not sure why but been notamed closed for months.

Not exactly on your flight route but close to Lakeland is Fort Myers Page field. fort Myers CC is a public Muni course about 10 minutes from the field . It is an excellent course - Donald Ross designed 1917. About $60.00 bucks. Great course!!
