Default EIS 4000 Check Entries

I think I shut my EIS down still in the config state.
I have been reading and no help there.
When it is powered up now I get the "Check Entries" and
below above the left button "next".
If I hit next, all the squares where numbers or letter would be displayed
go to dark pixels.
I tried to reboot and start over by holding down the right button and
then powering up and still get the "Check Entries"
Does anyone know how to reboot to factory settings so I can re config.
Right now when it powers up there is no communication with the EFIS "HXr"
until I hit the next button but no temps.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Just guessing. Hit the far right button, various entries should appear in the first column. Then hit next, then tap the right button, entries should appear in the second column. Keep doing this until all columns have an entry. Now you should be able to exit the programing mode.

Checking he User's Manual I cannot see any restore to defaults option.

I think you will need to step through all the setup fields by repeatedly pressing the 'NEXT' key (or holding it down) before the checksum is reset. The first screen is dark because that is the Screen Contrast setting, use the up/down keys to set it to a suitable value before scrolling through the remaining fields.

Default Freezes

When I hit "next" and all pixels go dark, there is no "next", "up" or "down".
I have tried holding down the right button with no change. I see no change
hitting any of the buttons. Bummer is I don't have much to config. Just Tachs
and fuel pressure.

Two things to try.

1. Hold down the right two buttons for 5-10 seconds.
THat should get you back into the config mode, I think.

2. AS others mentioned, hold the NEXT button until it exits config and resets to normal display.

If that does not work, then,

3. Call GRT. I am sure they can get you back on track.

Default Working Now

Thanks for the ideas. Decided to try holding down right button
during power up and that worked. All settings still in place.
Thanks again!

Default RE: EIS Check Entries

I just experienced what you are describing with my EIS 4000. The display was readable in normal operation. However when I selected the "SET LIMITS" pages by simultaneously holding the left and center button, as soon as I selected the NEXT page (right button) the screen would go dim/unreadable. What I discovered after some head scratching was that the 'Contrast' setting was set to low.

If I remember correctly, adjusting contrast is the first option that is presented when you bring up the SET LIMITS pages. If it isn't the first page then you need to press the right button to advance to the next page. When you are on the page for setting the 'Contrast', use the left or right button to adjust the 'Contrast' to a higher setting. I think 2 was the value that worked best. Once you have the contrast adjusted up, the the other SET LIMITS pages will be readable again.
