Exclamation Edge distance on steel

Boy I seem to be asking a lot of questions lately. While installing the right step today, when I drilled the holes for the bolt that goes thru the plastic square(?) and traverses the tube, my right angle drill would not fit tightly against the rib. Therefore the center of one hole is only 9/32" in from the end, it should be 12/32". The other came out fine. I know it ain't much, but since the bolt goes in crooked is there the possiblity of anything happening in the future? I know it's only the passenger step, but I hate when things don't come out as they should.

Default misplaced bolts on step,

I wouldn't get to excited about it. If thats the worst mistake you make, you are a lucky man. The forces on it will be in a shear mode , so they won't notice if the bolt is missaligned.
