Default KBPI is a great place to stop

My son and I were returning to Calgary, AB (CYBW) from Pheonix (KGYR) via the Grand Canyon, SP Cone, Crater, Monument Valley and Antelope Canyon, having a fabulous week exploring the desert SW. On our flight from Page, AZ to Helena, MT via Monuments we encountered some weather that pressed us a little east of our intended track and as it was getting dark we decided to divert for fuel and weather check which took us to Big Piney, WY (KBPI).

The main 13/31 runway is new paved 6800 x 75 and a brand new hanger with EXCELLENT pilot lounge and common area with comfy couches and chairs, big screen TVs, shower, and two crew cars!

But to top it all off, and the best part, the airport manager (Ken) and his wife (Lori) are the most aviation friendly couple one could hope to meet. She is a semi-retired school teacher and he is a semi-retired AI. They have traveled most Canada and the US in their early model Mooney, as well as missionary pilots in South America for 10+ years and have great stories one only gets from a lifetime of aviation exploration.

So if you are in the area and need a rest stop you can't go wrong; and Ken and Lori would welcome the company!

Thanks for the report. We've been looking for a reason to go to WY. That sounds about good enough.
