I flew my big-engined Yankee for over 2,000 hours and 23 years - and many other Grumman refugees are here in RV-land as well. The RV's will fly rings around the Yankee, carry more, fly much faster....RV's are where Grumman drivers go when the tire of their Yankees!
Looks are subjective of course, but gaining 50 knots in cruise on hardly any more fuel might tip your thoughts on what looks pretty.....

Two thoughts from a guy that got his Instrument ticket in a Cheetah, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away?it one of the fist airplanes I flew after a 150. Boy was it a sports car by comparison?
1. Fly an RV (as an earlier poster suggested). The comparison will likely be as much of a leap as the Cheetah was to the 150, perhaps more! Prepare for the RV grin!
2. Have Rosie post a picture of what he gets into the back of his RV-6 when he goes to the Caribbean every other year!
OK, three thoughts. Your original post was a really, really bad pick-up line. Like being at a dance, and saying on the microphone, "you ladies are all pretty homely, but I'd like to dance with that one?"
But ya show moxy in handling the ribbing, so maybe we can let your taste in aluminum mistresses slide

From Rosie: This is NOT a weight & balance discussion....for the heavier trips, we put tools and other 'stuff' under our legs on the floor and also in the center space in front of the fuel selector (our feet bump all the stuff in the middle). I ALWAYS remain within CG down to, god-forbid, two (2) gallons of gas in each tank....

Ya, he felt bad. Kind of like mistaking someone for a fighter pilot. "Aw sorry, I thought you were cooler than you actually are."
I was climbing out at a constant 3200 fpm yesterday (solo, light load of gas, 230hp, etc etc). Even if my RV-8 was ugly, people couldn't see it long enough for me to care!
Like was said, don't rule out the tip up canopy. Having flown a few different fighters I can say the tip up is very much like the F-16. The completely unobstructed view is intoxicating.

IMHO, this is one of the prettiest looking airplanes on the planet
Baggage capacity could be a little low if your mission is to carry two persons and a dog plus camping gear too. I've had mine stuffed full of so much camping gear that departing to the north down this very runway towards that mountain that I was wishing for an extra 20hp, though. Still it did just fine.

I also have a grumann tiger but would buy rv14 if there was a sliding canopy available

As Mike said, "Welcome"!
What's the problem? Build one the way you want it. By the time you get to the canopy, you should have the skills to make a custom slider. You can always find someone local to do the welding.
