Default O360-A4M for RV-7?

How suited would an O-360-A4M be for an RV7? Any problems with this engine or things to look for? Looking at one that is ready to assemble with no assesories.

Any advice or experience would be appreciated?

Thanks,

Default Engine

The A4 series are solid shaft engines, meaning the front main bearing area is solid. These engines cannot be converted to constant speed prop unless you change the crankshaft. Relatively popular engine, good choice if you can live with a fixed pitch prop.

It should work fine if you want to go with fixed pitch. This one has no provision for a constant speed prop.

Go to http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_...ariants#IO-360 and find you model. Back track from your model to the top of that type to find all of the features. You will note that the A4M backtracks like this:

A4M Slicks instead of Bendix Mags
A4A Stiffer Crankshaft
A3A Prop Flange Bushings
A2A No Constant Speed Prop
A1A Base Model

Thanks for the info. Looks like it would work well with fixed prop.

Default solid crank

Is the A4M case suitable cor constandt speed prop conversion if hollow crank is fitted?
I think it has governor pad machined on the accessories case? Can anyone confirm?
