Default Amp sensor installation

I have a GRT EIS 4000 and here is the Amp sensor on my RV-9A firewall.





Any reason to think this would not be a good idea? Do the Adel clamps change the magnetic field at the sensor? This wire is the battery lead from the alternator.

I used a single larger adel and wrapped it around the sensor, then screwed it to the f'wall. It works fine.

You will get better service life out of the sensor if you install it on the cabin side of the firewall.

This was a retrofit - replacement EFIS, so I wanted to keep the wiring the same.
You can see where the old Hall effect one was on the firewall.
It ran for 400hrs no problem. Current setup has 100 hrs.

Ideally yes these things should be aft of the firewall, but if you have it in the B lead, it has to be firewall fwd I guess.

Default Cork

I put mine on the B lead. I took a wine cork and sanded until it fit
tight in the center of the sensor, then drilled hole in cork center for B lead.
Pro seal/silicone cork to B lead.
What concerns me is the harness attach point. Not very secure and I have
not come up with a good idea yet.
Anyone have a good way to keep harness plug on the sensor?

OP: looks like the sensor can bounce around. These things are not what I would call "rugged". It needs to be firmly held (Adel clamp is okay).
