Default Tip: Dimpling for rudder cable strap

Well. A gotcha, got me once again! After riveting on the side skins on my Aft Fuselage Assembly on my 7A, I noticed in BOLD PRINT on Drawing 28, the instructions for the rudder Cable Clamp Hole. "Drill #19 AND DIMPLE FOR A #8 SCREW BEFORE RIVETING SKIN ON FUSELAGE. I solved the problem of dimpling after the fact by using 2 pieces of 2 x 4 (2 x 2 inches). I drilled a hole in each with a Unibit big enough for the dimple dies to fit snug and square, held them tightly in place while my wife whacked the outside part of my improvised dimpling machine until the dimples formed properly. It worked very well, but what works even better is to PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS! At least that is what I keep telling myself.

Default Screw dimpler

Thanks Bob B. for the info re: Avery's screw dimpler. I'll keep that in mind if I ever have another occasion.
