An A&P on my field was installing a ACK 406 in a cesnna, the owner of the plane called him and told him he had received a phone call asking if he was ok and and had he accidentally set his ELT off. They gave him the address where his plane was (the A&P's hangar) and told him it was 20' south of the hangar.
The GPS serial line was not hooked up yet, but it had been triggered accidently while installing, and it was indeed right outside the hangar doors.

Still trying to track down my ELT data problems. Thanks to those who offered suggestions and comments, I may be making some progress but don't know for sure yet. Talked to both Vans & Dynon today and got some help from both. Vans said the data line to the ELT was inop on the earlier kits but should be functional on mine. Dynon was very helpful and walked me through a lot of the setup on the serial ports getting my transponder, GPS, comm and ADSB to talk to each other. I haven't been able to test the data stream to the ELT yet but I'll get to it soon.

I'm hoping to get my DAR out next week and still have to do engine runs and some final tuning before he shows up so I'm going to shelf the ELT test until then. I have transition training scheduled for the 3rd and 4th so things are getting busy. If I get this ELT thing figured out I'll post my results for others.

Please don't take this as an absolute, but I remember hearing somewhere that the ELT wire on the RV-12 wiring PCB might be shorted to ground, messing up the serial output from SkyView.

With everything off, I would double-check that the ELT data wire isn't shorted to ground, and that it is making it to the right pin on SkyView.
