Waldo's BBQ at Lake Havasu (KHII) has closed/moved
I flew into Lake Havasu (KHII) yesterday for lunch at Waldo's BBQ and found an empty restaurant. I was informed that Waldo's had closed the airport location and moved it into town. I thought I'd post this on VAF because Waldo's has been the location of the Southwest annual New Year's Day fly-in for the last several years. We have 9 months to find a new destination, any ideas?

Alternate Location
Sedona, AZ!!
Beautiful setting, fun runway on which to land (top of a mesa), lots of ramp space, modern caf? with great food, usually good weather, incredible views over the Verde Valley and Sycamore Canyon approaching from the west --oh and did I mention---- beautiful setting??
Cheers,
db

Waldos
Waldos moved to a location at the intersection of McCulloch and Acoma. It was a long time site of another independent restaurant that appeared to be very successful.
My take is that the airport location was just not getting enough business, car parking problems and location being two major issues. yesterday the parking lot at the new location was full.

...Sedona is sort of a cool place and we fly in often, I do see a potential issue for our group though. The restaurant is always very busy and even with no other customers they couldn't possibly seat our usual turn-out at one time.
...Possibly Parker Az.? The Blue Water Casino will pick you up at the airport and they have several large banquet rooms that can seat everyone.
Another possibility, Jean Nevada? Large airport parking, only 1/4 mile walk to the hotel & casino. They have a very reasonable large buffet and dinning area that could accommodate our group as well...

Second the Parker. Sedona is a nice airport and the old wood cafe was fun and cool. New digs are snooty, if your vortex isn't adjusted just right.

Heard you on the radio!
This is a bummer. Waldo's was a good spot, especially for us SOCAL boys that want to stretch the legs a bit for a good Saturday lunch run!
Jake, I heard you on the radio Sunday. We were on our way home from Vegas. I was wondering who "RV 23J" was!

Laughlin has been good in the past. You can call ahead for a bus to one of the casinos and then go graze at the buffet or one of the finer restaurants.
