Default Propeller sign off

Please help. Does propeller removal and installation on a certified aircraft log book entry go in the prop or airframe log book?

Thanks,
Dean

Default log book sign off

Yes a log book entry is required, as well the prop must be safty wired with .041 safety wire not .032

Thanks John
I'm really wanting to know if the sign off goes in the prop, airframe, or both log books.
Thanks

Question

Why not put it in both?

If it was a simple remove/re-install put it in the Airframe log and a reference note ("Prop removed and re-installed - see Airframe Log") log book entry in the Prop log.

If you took the prop off and worked on it, then do it the other way around.

Prop log - "Inspected prop per SB....."

Airframe log - "Prop removed for SB inspection, see Prop log entry"

That way all of the work performed will be easy to track when a future mechanic looks at the logs in ten years time...

Normally this would go in the prop log but Gil also makes some good points, multiple entries won't hurt and will make it clear why the prop was removed.
Safety wire is required only if called out in the aircraft maintenance manual.

My MT manual says to safety with .032" wire.

Guess the basic thing here boils down to RTFM.

Default Duplicate write ups

I too am a firm believer in duplicate write ups. Having serial numbered items like propellers, oil coolers, mags and prop governors logged in air frame logs can aid in determining history if the engine is replaced, and components moved to the new engine. Not required does not mean don't do it. Making copies partial copies of the engine log to go with removed components is a good idea as well.

So the answers you have received are to make it work for you and your A&Ps, multiple entries and cross references. Good advice.
But if the OP's original question was a legal one, I think the FAA doesn't care. The A&P's can correct me, but I think the FARs just say "reliable record".
