Certified Rotax Mechanics?
I am seriously considering a factory built SLSA RV-12 from Synergy, and have even reserved an N number. The only thing that is holding me back is where I can have the airplane inspected by a mechanic certified with maintaining the Rotax.
Does anyone know of a certified Rotax center in the San Francisco Bay Area?
Thanks for any guidance.

Thanks. Maybe I should further qualify my question...
-- Has anyone had any real world experience with a Rotax center in the bay area?
When I contacted a nearby "Certified Rotax Center" they said there was a guy who rented part of their hangar who worked on Rotax aircraft. That didn't really instill confidence in the stability of the operation.
If I pay $125K for a plane then I would really like to find a reputable facility that has a history of success, and will be around for years.
I think this will be a challenge for the SLSA RV-12. I had hoped the factory would provide more information on where to have the plane maintained. The only information they have provided is the same link to the Rotax site.

Rotax Shop
Hello Bill,
Have you looked at Skyview Aviation? Looks like they are close to you and have Rotax certified techs. http://www.skyviewaviation.com/Maintenance.html

Official Van's Aircraft Service Centers
Van's has a list of their approved service centers. We all have to be Rotax Certified to make the list. It is available here:

There is a good Rotax service center in Sanata Rosa. They work on many Rotax engines on the field and for others. I talked to them personally, they are up to speed on all things Rotax.

Rotax specialist
We have a great one at Gnoss Field (Novato). His name is Bill Sherlock and is a recent transplant from the UK where he worked on Rotax engines since they were first introduced. He is licensed and certified. We have 2 Rotax engines and he has done all of our maintenance and inspections.
Send me a pm if you are interested in making contact with him. He is great resource for information.

I don't think you need to worry about a shortage of Rotax service centers. As fuel costs rise, LSA aircraft will become increasingly popular and Rotax is the largest supplier of power plants for he LSA market. It is probably one of the few growth sectors in the GA world. You are more likely to see more and more new centers opening as the demand rises.
