Superior does provide a 3 year, 500 hour (whichever comes first) 100% customer satisfaction guarantee with every cylinder that we sell. You can return it for a full refund if you are unhappy with our product for any reason.

I don't know how this compares with our competition's warranties.

Default There is a trend, and I like it

By an large I noticed that manufacture reps chiming in, like Hartzell. Excellent.

It has been helpful, informative, lacking sales pitch rhetoric and very Gentlemanly. Great, we can ask questions and get the straight scoop. Money back ain't bad, but to be honest I don't know too many people that would like to replace there jugs twice, it is a nice policy.

Not that I think it necessary but it would be nice if Van's aircraft would chime in sometimes, but understand why they do not. Besides they have their excellent email and phone based customer support. Just a thought. Hi Van.

Sounds like Superior is stepping up to the plate. From reading on their website they have agreed to take care of their sump customers too. This kind of service will trump the competition!

XP 361 ... sweet! My choice is made. I was willing to give up the extra 15 HP for the XP 360, but now I don't have to.

Is the 3 years from purchase date--------not really desirable to us homebuilders, or from date of aircraft sign off------MUCH better for ua homebuilders.

Matters a lot if you take a year to finish the plane AFTER buying the engine-----even if you do fly 500 hrs the first year.

Some folks (me included) will pick up stuff they know will be needed later, if they get a sweet deal-------------such as the "Oshkosh" special you picked up on a "Super Widgget" for the RV-? you just ordered.

Warrenties should not be based on "shelf time", but on use time.

The 3 year warranty starts at the time of purchase.

Unfortunate.

Hopefully others who sell cylinders---or other parts---will feel differently.

That is understandable from the supplier. Once the engine leaves their shop they have no control over what happens with it so the clock should be ticking from that point. They do have to manage their risk somewhat.

If their warranty is what it is then if one wants their engine then just plan for the purchase as carefully as one can in order to take advantage of the warranty. I don't think I am going to let a warranty policy keep me from buying an engine if that is the one I want. I will just make a point to order it when I am ready and not any earlier. Granted that can become a little difficult in some instances as it is very desirable to hang the engine on the airframe long before you ever start it up. It is just another one of those things one has to balance when dealing with JIT manufacturing.
