Sheet metal layout ruler
Hi all,
When I was at Sun 'n' fun this spring I bought a 12" steel flex ruler that had small cutout slots (for your marker) for accurately marking out sheet metal that I've misplaced. I've done a google search and checked out the advertisers on VAF but I haven't had any luck finding a supplier.
Does anyone know a source? .... it was a very handy tool!
Thanks Jim

A slight difference, but I find these plastic ruller with an 1/8 grid on them to be ideal for layout -

I had a full set of Incra rules from when I had my woodworking shop set up (before it became an airplane construction shop). In addition to the straight rule, I've found their t-rules a huge help when laying out a part.

Hmmmm.... looks like one of those might come in handy for laying out centerlines on undrilled flanges....

You will thank yourself a thousand times over if you buy a marking gauge like shown on the page below:

You can find similar items at Harbor Freight, but your best bet is to watch Ebay. This exact tools hasn't been made for years.
Drill out the pin and install a pen. If you're careful, you're marking pen will coincide with the 0 mark on the ruler and you'll cut your layout time significantly.
