The top of the rudder is a good place for the camera, it gives a very nice view of the plane and scenery. I'm in the process of making a fiberglass mount that fits the rudder's leading edge and holds the camera securly. I'm thinking it will cure the vibrations. I'll keep you posted.

If mountedon the FIXED vertical stabilizer all should be good with the GoPro Hero.
See this short video. There are some obvious shots from a **vertical stab** mount.

I made three other mounts for my RV6.
1. Wingtip ... Circular plate with holes that allow 30, 45, 60 and 90 degree positioning of camera.
2. Cowl screws at center (used 3 screws) for pilot view center.
3. Inspection plate under wing. Made replacement inspection plate with mount. I added a nutplate in the center rib.
On these mounts, I countersunk the GoPro stick on attachment to further anchor it.
We also use head mounts.
Also, you can now purchase a GoPro WIFI remote control.
