The purpose of putting salt in the water is to lower the water temperature below
the freezing temp of the Ice.

Do you need that big of an Ice Chest? Most flights are short... maybe the ice melts pretty quick.

Default Simpler?

Is there a significant advantage to adding the heat exchanger / water pump. Why not just blow the air over the ice inside the cooler and then exhaust?

You get a much bigger surface area to act on the air with the heat exchanger vs just blowing air on the water.

And you don't add more humidity, I'd think.

Yes, but in some parts of the US outside Houston we would like the added humidity...

Default Amp Draw

I want to make one of these. Do you know how many amps the blower and the pump draw? Just wondering.

Great timing for this thread. I found a great DIY link on how to build one of these myself, but ended up buying the RVCoolBox instead. I found Louise Hose's review and it looked like a nicely built unit...much better than one I'd make myself. I figured the extra few bucks would be worth it.

Here's the review: http://www.vansairforce.com/communit...itioner+cooler
