Default Rear CG MAUW

To those who have done their rear CG MAUW testing.....

We have just done our weight envelope testing and in our rear CG test our rv8 was laterally stable but unstable on pitch ie straight and level at 80 knots, flicked the stick back and it pitched up then slowly kept pitching up.

My question is... Is this a normal thing with the 8? What's everyone else's experiences in this configuration. Any comments would be much appreciated.

Our numbers are

Empty 1032 pds
CG 79.40

Rear CG test 1797
CG 86.77

Thanks
Ross

Mine is the same way at low speed and aft CG. Mine has slightly positive longitudinal static stability at idle, and negative longitudinal static stability with power on. More power makes it worse - i.e. worst case is full power.

Mine is a bitch to land with heavy PAX and smoke tank full (rear baggage) its right on the rear CG limit and it sits on its arse as you go to flair. If you don't catch it it will stamp it's tailwheel down hard! The complete polar opposite to smoke tank empty and just me up front!!
