Default Gretz pitot problems

My 2 yr old Gretz has begun to delaminate. I have sent an email with photos to the new manufacturers ( Angus Aviation), but have received no response. Can the polymer surface be repaired? Will a high temp epoxy or JB Weld hold?Pitot heat still works. About 150 hrs total on the plane.

Thanks,
David

Just wondering how this issue was resolved?

Default Replaced by SteinAir.

I discussed this with the current manufacturer, now in Australia. It seems this has happened on other units. Be sure you follow the wiring instructions. The unit does not stay in a continuos heating mode, but cycles. If wired incorrectly you will overheat the unit and caused a problem similar to those shown in the photos.

Mine was wired correctly and seldom used. New unit is OK.

Good luck,
David

The "powered only when needed" idea seems great at first glance, but I wonder what failure modes are introduced with this?
Perhaps a failed sensor caused the unit to be on continuously. Worse cast senario, sensor fails to indicate need for pitot heat and it ices over?
