Default What does success look like with Van's intersection fairings?

I have searched the site pretty thoroughly about the intersection fairings for my RV7. I bought the Vans intersection fairings for a starting point and I really don't mind the fiberglass work.

But, it's always nice to see someones chronicle about how they got from the flimsy starting point to a satisfactory result. I really haven't been able to find that story like I usually do here on the site. I have found some good documentation using Fairings etc. but, not Vans.....

....they look like you might sand off about 3/8" all around just for starters
.....they measured .030, how many layer should be added?
......is there any other shaping that makes it easier or better looking?

Any pictures or links to success with Vans intersection fairings would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,

There are a lot of sites out there with good images. Here is how I did it.

Note the inspection panel. That makes removing the fairing much easier and with little chance of damaging the paint later on.
