Default TIS traffic ghosts

I've been flying this week during my vacation for the first time with TIS. It's interesting to me how few aircraft it picks up. What I find most surprising is that I very often get a "ghost" - I suspect that it is showing my aircraft a bit offset from where I am kind of like a shadow. Is this a common problem with TIS and is there a way to get rid of the ghost?

Kind of scary when it tells me that there is another aircraft +00 with the same track offset by a few feet.

Somewhat common in my experience. Most often when at the boundries of distance or altitude of the TIS service. Also great for identifying that your wingman is squaking when he shouldn't be .

I've routinely had this happen, especially when doing maneuvers or in the RF shadow of a mountain. Really annoying to have traffic callout and see 00. It does drive a bit of ignore the calls behavior after a while, which is not good either. I am not a big fan of TIS because of latency and intermittent coverage. I am in Phoenix, so the coverage issues are more obvious due to local terrain.
