Default Warning signs

Many of us have modern engine monitoring systems. But what does it tell us. Information is useless without knowledge. Can I open a discussion about what the EMS can tell us about what is happening inside our engines. For example what does it mean if the EGT suddenly drops on one cylinder, or maybe CHT rises.

I have experienced a dropped valve and I would like to be able to recognize the warning signs of an impending failure.

Although it is written by EI for the UBG-16, this document will give you a lot of what you are looking for.
