Default Little help...RV-8 Rear Seat Fiberglass insert

So I just finished cutting and shaping the fiberglass insert above the rear seat (pre-metal insert kit) and the insert just doesnt fit flush. Has anyone else had this issue? How have you dealt with it? If you have a picture of yours that would be helpful. Thanks.

Doug

This is usually the case with the RV-8 seat back. What you need to do is mix up a healthy batch of epoxy/micro baloons/cotton flox and slather it to the rear side of the fiberglass housing. Set the seat into the proper position and let the resin cure. This will fill the gap around the visible perimeter of the seat back and can be sanded to a nice finish. Don't forget to put some clear masking tape on the aluminum bulkhead and a light layer of wax. This will make sue the resin cures to the fiberglass housing and not to the fuse.
