New Sharpies
My wife was kind enough to pick up some blue fine point Sharpies.
Two things I don't like about these new pens.
1. The color strip is down on the shaft and when you have a few mixed colors in a cup, you have to pull them all out to find the color you want.
2. Simply put, I suspect but don't know if they have changed the ink formula or the construction of the tips as these new pens do not put down the ink like the old ones. It is very hard to draw on aluminum or fiberglass with these new pens. If you can locate some of the old ones, buy as many as you can.

Thanks for the tip ...
Life in the shop w/o good Sharpies is not worth living.

New Sharpies
I picked up a (blue) three pack of these to try......The line rubs off the aluminum too easily. It draws a nice fine line.
I don't see a reason to change from the old fine sharpie classic. I prefer blue to black. My two cents.

I've been using the Pilot pens that I got from Avery with my toolkit. They work great, as long as you remember to put the cap back on. They dry out pretty quick in the open air.

Yep - you got something different
The Sharpie MSDS collection is good for finding ingredients...
http://www.sharpie.com/enUS/MSDSSheets/default.html
You pic is of a " Sharpie Pen"
Water (7732-18-5), glycerin (56-815), pigments, resins, ethylene glycol (107-21-1), additives
The old ones I have are marked " Ultra Fine Point Permanent Marker"
Dyes, n-butanol, diacetone alcohol, ethanol
You seemed to have picked up a water-based pen, not an alcohol based one....
Sharpie still lists the ones we want, perhaps you need to try a different store?

Same here and for those who missed it, the picture above was of a "blue" Sharpie.

That explains a lot. The problem is, I can't find the old Sharpies in any of the local stores.
Luckily you can order these

from the Sharpie web site.

We have a craft store chain called 'Joann Fabrics'.
They have stocked the 'Sharpie Ultra Fine' permanent
marker in the past. I bought a three pack earlier
this year.
