RV-12 rocker switches?

Does anyone know who makes the rocker switches on the 12 panel? Do they illuminate?

I like the look, and i'm thinking about using them on my 9A.

I'm pretty sure he makes em for Van's so he probably has a source for the rockers.

Thought I would resurrect this old thread because sources for the RV-12 rocker switches have been identified. After looking at this thread and others similar where builders have inquired about finding a source for the rocker switches used by Van?s on the RV-12?s instrument panel, it seemed there was never a clear source identified.

After looking at photos on various builder sites and on Dave?s Schmetterling Aviation site in particular, where he had taken an instrument panel photo from above which clearly showed that the rocker switches Van?s uses are soldered onto circuit boards ... after seeing that, I knew I did not want to call Van?s for the switches. Preferred having switches with either a screw or spade terminal so there would be no soldering or a need to make a small circuit board for the switches. So the search began. A call to Stein got me pointed in the right direction because he thought the switches were made by Otto. That appears to be correct and they make quite a few versions including spade terminals.

The RV-12 switches do appear to be manufactured by Otto ... the single pole rocker switches are the K1 series and the double pole switches are the K2 series. The part number for the single pole switch with the 12 volt green LED light in it as seen in the photo below is K1ABAPCABA. It is available through Mouser or Quist Electronics in Minnesota (where I ordered from) ? there are other distributors, but most of the ones I checked required ridiculous minimum orders. Hope this helps builders like myself wanting to install a panel switch for the fuel pump so the pump does not run while fiddling around learning the SkyView menus, adjusting settings, installing updates, etc.

The K1ABAPCABA is one of the switches Van's uses and sells. All the switches they use and sell are of this series (with spade connectors).
They can be purchased individually (no minimum order). I can't comment on how the price compares to other sources.

They aren't in the catalog... you have to call and ask for them.

I got an OTTO K1ABBPCADA from Vans for $14, same as what is in the D180 panel

Scott ? thanks for correcting my incorrect assumption that the rocker switches were of the PC board solder mount type. I revisited the photo I was using as reference and upon a MUCH closer inspection, I can see the female spade connectors are soldered onto the PC board and the male spade connectors on the switches are seated into the female connector. Gee, wish I would have noticed that weeks ago ? it would have saved hours of time researching on the Internet. On the brighter side of things, the Otto part number for the switch is correct.

Per the previous post, the Van's price of $14 is what I paid for the switches.

These rocker switches are mounted with a round hole, 20amp and lit up.
I bought 2 of the green ones and they are only $2.50 each.
I got this web site from a friend that does a lot of wiring for the guys at the airport and he won't buy if he doesn't like the quality.
