Default RV-4 Wing Removal

Good day. I am a new owner of a fairly tired RV4. I am considering removing the wings to strip and paint the aircraft this winter. I'm a fairly experienced mechanic with a couple of very knowledgable A&Ps looking over my shoulder. However, none of us have taken apart any RV aircraft. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance-

Default Congratulations, Joe..

We painted both my -6A and a friend's -4 in my hangar with the wings on and they came out nice. Can it be painted assembled?

Regards,

I would imagine it would turn out ok. With the wings off I can have a body shop shoot it in a booth which would obviously bring a better result. Also it is going to get very cold real soon here in Central Minnesota.

I had a long cross country turn into a short one yesterday, 40 knots on the tail coming home from a weekend engagement. What a fun machine....

Thanks to all for your kind advice.
