Default RIP Phil Barrett: T27

For any folks that have been to Horizon Airport in El Paso:

Owner/Operator Phil Barrett passed away on Monday, December 15, 2008.
I believe Phil has been there for over 50 years.

RIP Phil

Terry, thank you for letting us know. I will miss Phil and his cheery greetings, a lot. Phil put together a really nice sport aviation airport that had a welcoming feel and shaded picnic tables.

I wonder what will happen to Horizon Airport now? It seemed to be under a lot of pressure with Phil and I hope there is a way to continue the operation. I wrote a brief trip summary a while back about the best fly-in breakfast anywhere!

Default God Bless

to Phil. We have stopped there many times going to and from Phoenix, and also enjoyed a short visit with Phil. Earlier, when flying a C182 with auto gas stc, we would stop because Phil always had auto gas a little cheaper than any other option in the area.

We will miss Phil.
