Default AirVenture Cup Results

I saw the results posted tonight for this year's race and they are pleasing to me but for all you side-by-side builder/pilots out there - our airplane is an RV-6A not an RV-8A as is currently listed. I sent Eric and the EAA Hotline folks a message asking that it be corrected.

Good job Bob! Your decision to climb looks like it was a good one.

Congrats Bob. I spoke with Lee & Jay Behel on Sunday night and they were very excited that they beat Eldredge in the NXT. They also chose to go high.

Default The Model is correct now

A lady from the EAA sent me a message that the information was corrected and I was able to verify it through the link she provided. Independently, I have not been able to find it and what I saw previously was only down through 3rd place. I'm sure the whole story will be shown soon but for now I can only guess how others have done in the non-RV classes. Dick Martin with a "390" in his RV-8 for example.

Default Results

I scanned the results sheet but don't know how to post it here - if someone else does let me know and I'll send it to you.

The speeds were highly dependent on whether pilots went high or low. I heard that Kevin Eldredge went very low in the NXT trying to get under some weather and that this slowed him down considerably. He and Lee Behel both took off together and both did a high-speed pass through the start, but the NXT made a shallow climb-out whereas the Legacy immediately pitched up to a high angle (eventually getting to 17,500).

Dick Martin also went low and was last in the Sport FX class at 231.63 mph. This was slower than the top two in the RV-Blue class, both of whom went high.
