Default Empennage Fairings

I hate the idea of blind riveting the Elevator and Rudder Fairings?has anyone come up with a good way to use screw in the event you need to get back into those areas? I don?t mind the forward ones because I see no need to go back in there but the other areas may require access later.

Most people end up glassing these over. No seams at all. It only takes a few seconds to drill out the blind rivets. You could probably put nutplates in if you want.

Default Rudder Fairing

See my website, I installed a VOR antenna at the top of the VS and will be installing a beacon at the top of the VS.

Hi Bart,
As mentioned...many folks use #4 or #6 screws with platenuts. If you do this I'd recommend painted PRIOR to installation so your paint line doesn't crack. I've used the 'glass over the rivets' method on my previous projects (including the RV10).....when I did the fairings on my F1 I opted for a 'change' and used the platenuts/screws method. After I was finished I ended up glassing over everything as I didn't care for the 'look' of all those screws. YMMV.
