Just got mine up.

I use Irfanview (a free "minimalist" photo program) for all my basic photo editing needs (crop, resize, rotate, color tweaking).

Photoshop also seems to have some bloat which keeps jpg files from being much smaller than 20k. I used: http://www.shrinkpictures.com/ with image quality set to "Best" & it still was less than 10k. Nobody wants to see my mug, so you get my helmet in 2-pixel size instead.

If your image isn't square, it looks like this might be the trick:
