I’m flying into NOVA Monday for three days and can go to Leesburg or Manassas equally easily. For those of you who know both of these airports can you give a recommendation as to which is more GA friendly and which is a preferred FBO or just who has the best ramp space.

Thanks.

Go where it is most convenient for you. I have nothing bad to say about APP at KHEF or ProJet at KJYO after multiple visits to both, they are always friendly and reasonable and give me crew cars when I need them. They both have rental car options available as well. And, I have tried to teach all the line guys the "push down on the fuel cap tab" trick both places.

Make sure you read the NOTAMS for KJYO (Leesburg). They operate a remote tower there. Treat it like a class D and you will be fine.

Code:
KJYO 03/001 SVC TEMPO TWR LOCAL CTL 127.5, GND CTL/CLR DELIVERY
    120.5 DLY 1200-2200. 08 MAR 12:00 2020 UNTIL 31 OCT 22:00
    2020. CREATED: 02 MAR 21:26 2020
Also take the SFRA FAA course to be covered and up to date on the procedures within the mode-C veil of the DC-3 airports.

1. Take the online course for WDC SFRA operations. Do your homework.
2. If rated, file IFR into Leesburg or Manassas. Makes nav in SFRA easier.
3. Consider Winchester(KOKV)as an alternative, and you can disregard 1 and 2
Another point in favor of #3 (KOKV), fuel price at Winchester $3.94. Leesburg $5.90. Manassas $5.50

Good luck.

Tom would love to see your -14 while you are in the area, I live about 10 minutes from JYO. I keep my -14A at HWY and there is another -14A at FRR and a -14 at OKV.

Thanks for the replies. Chris, as luck would have it my back up alternator became questionable today so I’ve cancelled until the second half of October. That will give me much more time to do some airplane things while there. My friend keeps his Bo at KHWY. In October I will use KJYO.
