Default I shouldn't have dimpled my HS fairing attachment holes

Yeah, it was all going good until I realized that I have dimpled some holes I shouldn't have. Specifically, the 10 inboard holes on the RV-8 horizontal stabilizer where the nut plates for the fairing will attach.

Left to my own devices, I would probably use some countersunk rivnuts like these:

https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catal...ickkey=3249237

..I know rivnuts are despised by many, but I think there might be some ways of mitigating future problems:

1. Rough up the underside of the shop head and the dimpled hole and apply some epoxy before setting the rivnut to keep the nut from rotating later.

2. Blue thread locker for the screws, since the rivnuts don't lock. (Is that considered acceptable?)

I've been referencing this KitPlanes article which mentions the epoxy:

https://www.kitplanes.com/nutsert-notes/

BUT, hopefully you have a better idea...

Default No problem...

1. The fairing attach doesn't need all 10, maybe 3 or 4 a side or less, if your fiberglass skills are up to the task
2. Remove the dimpled hole for the screw -- just get a flat set and mash it flat and install the K1000 nutplates as per plans, or less (see #1)

When you drill the hole for the #6 screw, most of the simple comes out. The remaining bit you can flatten with flat dies in a squeezer. Easy. ..

That's what I'm gonna do. Squeeze it with a flat set. That'll be a lot better than the rivnuts. Thanks for the advice! ..Brian, with #1, I'm sensing an opportunity for an extra .02 knots...
