Yes. I never knew there was a problem until several people told me there is no way my MAP could be as high as it is. Apparently I was showing higher than physically possible. So I ran a test per Dynon and they said "yep you're to high and need a new sensor." no way to calibrate it.

So new sensor didn't change anything. Might have an issue with my D180.

Quoting this old post since I recently had the same outcome. I have a SkyView Touch & SV-EMS-220 and my MAP was reading high by approximately 0.5" Hg. I checked it on several different days using the airport's AWOS altimeter setting and adjusted for the airport's elevation of 142' MSL.

So I replaced it a few months ago with a new sensor purchased directly from Dynon. It also reads high by approximately 0.55" Hg, again checking on several different days.

I adjusted for airport elevation with the approximation of: Set Field Elevation, note the value in the Kollsman window, and subtract 1" per 1000 ft above Sea Level from the Kollsman window value.

And also used the this Station Pressure calculator:

These sensors are very crude in terms of "they are all the same output" because near enough is good enough.

We see MAP in 1/10" increments and they have a +/- 0.3 - 0.5" accuracy out of the box. I reported this anomaly to Dynon about 4-5 years ago, and in later software versions came a choice of sensor with an offset that you can select to trim out this visually annoying error.

On a D120/D180 that option does not exist (that I am aware of) so you just live with a slight error and ignore it. Millions of these sensors world wide, and it affects nobody. They are not altimeters

Hope that helps.

PS.....yes keep water out of them

That's what I figured.

I'll look for that sensor choice with the offset capability.

Thanks,

David,

Thanks for the tip. Your info was very helpful.

I looked in the Skyview Touch Installation and User Guides but could not find any info on offseting the MAP indication (maybe I missed it!).

But I did find the adjustment capability in the MAP sensor input mapping menu, adjustable from -0.5" Hg to +0.5" Hg in increments of 0.1" Hg by picking the sensor with the appropriate offset value.

Thanks again,
