Default Fuel Cap O Rings

Group,
Got a set of Fuel CAP O rings with the 6A I bought last month. They are definitely softer than the set on the plane and I occasionally have a hard time getting the caps to seat so I can move the lever flush. This could be from lack of practice. Time to replace the O rings? Follow up question; for installation do the new rings just stretch over the base of the cap? Should I expect to soak them in hot water first?
Thanks
Kirk

Take the cap apart to install the O-rings. Usher fuel cap instructions below. Instead of Fuel Lube/EZ Turn, a lot of folks use Krytox GPL 205 grease. Lube is important for the smooth operation of the cap.

Also, when you remove the cap, open the latch and push down on it slightly to expand the disks and relieve the pressure on the large O-ring, and the cap will come out more easily.
