Aerosport Door Handle Cover Issue
Installing my doors tonight and went to put on the Aerosport interior door handle cover plate. I had already fitted it to the door, but once the lock was installed, the plate won't fit flush due to it hitting the locking tab and screw.
Anyone else have this issue? If so, curious to know what you did to fix?

Yes. I had the same issue. Talk to Geoff at Aerosport. They have two different height tabs.

I had same problem, resolved by using a Dremel to cut a 45 deg relief notch in the plastic base mount for the latch to turn the full 90 deg. The cover plate hides the relief notch and all is good.

Yes. Relieve the interference as necessary.

Same here
I ended up just cutting off one of the lower plate legs to allow the lock to rotate freely.

Will at Aerosport saw my post and emailed me these pics. (GREAT customer service!) They designed this cover to work with or without the Aerosport low profile door handle. If you do use the low profile handle, it does take the modification others posted. Since a picture is worth a 1,000 words, here's where you need to modify the tab to allow clearance for the lock.

Hi
The problem with this setup is that the door handle can overpower the lock as the door lock pin can push the latch up and allow the pin to come out of the notch.
I made a latch that goes behind the rack and prevents it from moving more than 1/8" or so. I would post pix but can't figure out how to do it on this site.

Hi Again. I think I got the pix thing sorted out. Here is how I made the Aerosport covers work without modification.
Lock latch prior to modification
Rack marked for trimming
Tab before modification / welding
Welded tab
Unlocked position
Locked position

Hi
Quick question, will the Aerosport cover fit without modification? That is where I ran into problems.
Cheers
