G3X Touch XM music not coming through headset. I can see song and genre titles on the screen, but nothing in headset. I really feel it?s a simple flip of a switch kinda thing. Maybe in the initial set up I got something wrong. Zulu 3 headset. Any ideas I can check out would be appreciated.

Hello Rich,

You need the following:
  1. Music volume turned up at the source (controlled on GDU 460 (GDL 51R/52R) or GDU 465).
  2. Music volume turned up at the GTR 200/200B.
  3. Music source selected to Wired instead of Bluetooth for a GTR 200B.
  4. Music turned on at the GTR 200/200B.

For the first item, this is a one time setup where you set the music source volume to be the best match for the wired music audio input on the GTR 200/200B. Go to this Audio Tests page on the GTR 200/200B, then set the music volume on the GDU until the input signal bar is between the two markers on this page.

For the 3rd item with a GTR 200B, you will need to make sure that the music source is set to "Wired" (instead of Bluetooth) when using SXM music.

For the last item, have you setup one of your 2 GTR 200/200B softkeys to be music on/off?

The music note is highlighted like shown here when the music is turned on.

Thanks,
Steve

I do have the soft key set up on GTR 200. The XM capable G3X in at the right seat position, it?s a 465 isn?t it. You mentioned volume up on 460? I?ll check both. What about the DIP switch on the Zulu 3?s mono or stereo?

Hello Rich,

There are two different options for SXM on G3X Touch systems. The first is the GDU 465, like you have, and the second is the GDL 52R.

In both cases the music source volume is adjusted on the GDU. In your case it is adjusted on the GDU 465 on which ever side it is installed.

Your headset switch should be in the stereo position. Nothing will sound very good otherwise.

Thanks,
Steve

Problem Solved, turns out the AV-50000A control module was the culprit. The potentiometer for the music input was turned all the way down. Pulled the avionics bay cover twisted the little screw and Tom Petty was loud and proud. Thanks Steve (G3Xpert), I was able to rule out a garmin Set up issue.
