Default Rod End Bearings (Aileron)

I'm having a bit of trouble tightening the rod end bearings for the aileron push/pull tubes.

My question is, How did you tighten the jam nuts? Proper torque values for this part can be found on page 5-18 of the RV-14 manual and are posted below. If I hold the rod end bearing itself with a wrench, the tube rotates when I apply torque to the jam nut.

How did you keep the tube stationary? By the way, this is an AN6 bolt.

A set of vise soft jaws will usually have a channel that'll permit holding the tube. For the rod end bearing, buy or fabricate a proper tool - don't hold it with a wrench or you'll ruin a bearing sooner or later.

May want to consider just hand tightening for now. I just installed mine and had to adjust the length once installed in the wing. Once you have it bolted in place the tube and end stay put pretty well while you tighten the nut.
