Well, the photo was taken before the owlet got a ride. You should have seen him after the 5 hour flight! :-)
That hawk does look big, but surprising light to carry. His design is like Vans aircraft design philosophy ... build it light.
Weather god were definitely in our favor. Last we tried traveling west via Thunder Bay we had to stop in Sault Ste-Marie for the night due to weather.
The organization was called PnP Canada, borrowing part of the name from the USA organization. Something happened and they had to change names. They chose Canadian Wings of Rescue. Not sure of the issues, but the site is here:

CWR provides a link between the different animal welfare organizations and the pilots.
Canadian missions tend to be much longer distances, and I have not seen relays here. I believe the missions are shorter in the US. We try to do at least one a year. It is most satisfying.
