Nice...that's new. Definitely going to try it out. I've heard that earlier versions were unbearable.

I have read that they have improved the tailwheel simulation but I have not tried it yet.

I got it a few days ago. Been fun. Wish I could figure out altitude control for the autopilot.

ground handling?
How is the ground handling? I tried xplane and the ground handling was comical. Perhaps it was just the plane that I was testing.

I'm not a gamer, and the last flight sim I had was F/A-18 Hornet probably 20 years ago. Seeing this post on the RV-8 spurred me on to trying the free X-Plane demo to see how it would work on my new iMac. It worked fairly well so I splurged and bought X-Plane 11, a joystick, and the RV-8 add-on.
The interesting thing to me is that you can spin the RV-8 and recover from it. Below is a link to a low-res video screen capture of a spin and recovery. After a couple of spins the fans kicked in on the iMac due to the processor load, but the simulation was unaffected.
Click to play video:
And some random screenshots (Click for larger versions):
Comes with a Garmin look-a-like avionics suite (note the "Garmin" name on the GMA 245 audio panel).
The Olympic Mountains, Puget Sound, Shilshole Bay, Ballard Locks, and Lake Union:
An inverted pass (Hmmm ... must come with inverted fuel & oil systems!):
On final for RWY 34 at Arlington Municipal Airport (KAWO), and the PAPI lights work:
Well, you know where this is:

Wow little close on that spin recovery don't you think?
Real nice. Makes me want to upgrade my computer just so I can run the new Xplane version!

Not a gamer here either but I just switched from a Macbook Pro laptop to an iMac. From About This Mac :
iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017)
Version 10.14.3 Mojave
Processor 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5
Ram 8 GB 2400 MHz DDR4
Graphics Radeon Pro 560 4096 MB
Do you think a sim will work on it?

I don't know, but I would definitely give it a shot by downloading the free demo and use the mouse and the keyboard if you don't have a joystick yet. The free demo version has a few different airplanes to try IIRC.
Don't know if your RAM amount (8 GB) will be a limitation. Apple way overcharges for RAM, so I bought the 27" iMac with 8 GB of RAM and then added 32 GB of RAM from OWC for a lot less than Apple charges.
27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display
3.7GHz 6-core 9th-generation Intel Core i5 processor, Turbo Boost up to 4.6GHz
40GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory
Radeon Pro 580X with 8GB of GDDR5 memory BTW, the developers of the RV-8 add-on didn't get the Service Letter about the Vne now being stated as TAS instead of IAS (200 KTAS/230 MPH TAS). Oh, wait, Van's has not published a Service Letter stating that yet!
RV-8 Sim screenshot at 16,100' where Vne is shown as 200 KIAS (not KTAS):
Screenshot from my (real) RV-8 (in MPH) on a recent flight at 16,100' where the Vne has been put into the Dynon EFIS as 230 MPH TAS:

Thanks, I'll test it.
OWC has a RAM upgrade for the 21" and after seeing the video seems pretty easy to do. I've bought their upgrades for my Macs in the past.
