mc-236-b2 pro-seal source in Australia

Hi,

I?m going to need some pro-seal for the elevators soon.

Can anyone recommend a source in Australia that sells small cans? I was able to find the big mixing tubes at aeroparts but when only needing a small amount I don?t think you can mix a little with these tubes (and they are $100!).

Don?t really want to pay a fortune for shipping from the US if I can help it.

Hi Trent,
What are you using it for? There might be an easier product that will serve the same purpose.
For Proseal, contact PPG Aerospace in Tullamarine.
They are in Ovata drive. Not sure if they sell direct to the public, but would be worth asking. You can get pro seal in small cans. Not sure about the particular one that you specified, but they do a wide range of sealants. Have the specs available to talk to them about to ensure you get the right one.

I think Van?s is recommending 3m VHB tape instead of proseal now. Works good!

I've purchased pro-seal in the tube and the conventional containers from them. I also bought fire sealant, lubricants and consumables for annual inspections.

They have Aviaquip deliver directly to you so turnaround is about 24 hours.

I couldn't recommend them more highly

I used it on the trailing edge, but it still calls for ?tank sealant? to glue the foam ?ribs? into the elevator.

You don?t need the specific part number Van?s carries. The tank sealant meets AMS-S-8802 (aka MIL-S-8802); any sealant that meets the spec will work.

You?ll see some number like B-1/2 or B-2 at the end; the letter is viscosity (B is what we typically use; A is runny) and the number is the theoretical working time in hours.

Shame it isn’t smaller - I guess the shelf life would mean most would be wasted?

Having the same supply constraints as you, I satisfied
Myself that 3M 5200 would be adequate for this application.
Easy to get anywhere.
I used some on my RV7 for a similar type of application and it showed
No signs of deterioration over 8y and 700h of operation.
YMMV

Did you also use that on your fuel tank? Or just other areas like trailing edge / foam ribs etc?
