Niagria Falls/Buffalo
CINC-House would like to go see Nigeria Falls and spend the night in Buffalo to enjoy a nice meal and night away from the home.
I was planning to do the published scenic flight-seeing procedure. Any words on that?
Recommendations on a airfield to gas up and leave the RV10 for the night?
Also a hotel and restaurant recommendation would be much appreciated.
Thanks

We made that flight several years ago. It was really neat! After we circled the falls, we landed at KIAG, and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. We had a great time. After we landed, we got a car and drove to the falls as well. While there, someone was walking on a tight rope between the skycrapers on the Canadian side. A news helicopter was hovering near him, and all I could think was that the prop wash was going to knock him off the rope! (look at the tour boat down in the mist....I wish we would have done that)

I have used KBQR, Buffalo-Lancaster Regional twice in the past. It's a sleepy, quiet airfield just outside the inner ring of the Buffalo Class C airspace. It's a good facility and I have no complaints or regrets.

The last time I landed at Lancaster there were no available tie downs, check first. KIAG is nice. Usually leave my plane at 9G3, Akron. Another sleepy field but not much to do around there without a car. BTW, there is NO access through the gate or fuel outside of regular business hours. Not even able to get out!!
Dunkirk, along the lake is a nice field. Only a few RV minutes SW.

Niagara Falls
Thanks for the Info. I will try giving them both a call this week to check on fees and access issues at BQR.
Any one have a favorite "local" place? I remember traveling there for work years ago and being amazed by the local restaurant seen, but hay maybe that was just the expense account:-).

Niagara Falls
The wife and I flew to Niagara Falls in the -10 just last month for her birthday. Tied down at KIAG and used Calspan FBO. Rented a car from Enterprise at Calspan. Top marks for the airport/FBO experience. Easy to get a view of the falls on towered departure even without doing the special airspace procedure. We stayed at the Courtyard hotel in Niagara Falls and walked to the falls from there, about a mile and a half. Took a tour that included the Canadian side and agreed that the next time we visit, it will be on the Canadian side only. They have great restaurants, nice hotels, clubs & casino's and good shopping over there, it's like a cross between New York and Las Vegas. The US side... well isn't. I'd fly in to KIAG again, but I'd stay in Buffalo like you if I was to stay on the US side.

+1 for the Canadian side
The Canadian side of the falls has it all over the US side. Better views of the falls and the opportunity to go behind the falls, better hotels, restaurants. The US side looks like a ghost town. The comparison is embarrassing to the US.
