Default AS3 040x1/2x4 empenage kit

Any one know what the two AS3 pieces are used for? Can't find it on the plans.

AS3 040x1/2x4

piece of aluminum .5 by 4 inches. 2 supplied in kit

Used later in the fuselage kit. Don't misplace them.

Ok, Tom023 asked me about it and I was wrong. I was remembering the 2 bell crank angles (F-01037A) which are supplied in the empennage kit, but not used until the fuselage kit. I looked, and I still have the AS3 plate myself and I am finished with the fuselage, so I don't know when it might be used.

Me either . I found mine two days ago looking for the non-existent landing gear shims mentioned on p40-4A.

Are there any landing gear shims? I have been looking for them for about an hour and don't have a clue if I may have received them.

You are referencing F-14129A and C.

They are supposed to be included in the empennage kit (see pages 10-16 and 4-15). However, not all nose-dragger kits got them.

If you're in a pinch, you can fabricate your own. It's 0.016 or 0.025 2024-T3 alclad (parts A and C, respectively).

For the curious, here's that shim (installed as needed), shown just to the left of the gear leg:
