Mackinac Island Adventure
When Kate wants to go flying, one simply does not say no! It's a little over 2 hours from Minne to Macki in the RV, and you don't need no stinkin' ferry!
Kate made a short video of the trip......
We made it a day trip and took in many of the sights.... 9500' over the lake with islands below the cloud-fog on the way over....
Kate swam!
Kate got tired......
Circled the bridge......
Flew west, split a Chipoltle on the way home, and we were decompressing just after dark!
Great way to spend a day!

Great Adventure
You made my wife jealous! Now the pressure is on me to get our 9A finished. Even before we started the build Mackinac Island was planned to be our 1st trip. The next trip planned will be Niagara Falls. Loved the pictures & video.

The 20" Brompton and the 16" no-name were a tight fit in back, but it worked! You can ride all over the island - we rode into town and all the way around the perimeter if the island(8 miles)- It is not hard at all.

Rich and I flew up there many years ago. Nice flight and the horse taxi to town and back was fun.

Enjoyed this a lot. Already making my own plans; got the route saved in ForeFlight. Now if I could only get this airplane finished...

Since my daughter had lived there the past 7 years my RV-7 has been there many times. It is a very scenic trip. One hour from my back door to being on the island. Taking your own bikes is a great idea I often thought about investing in. There is no bike rental at the airport so a horse taxi to town or the 'ol shoe leather express are the only ways to where you can get a bike. $12 landing fee is due to the fact it is a State Park you are landing in. Careful if you give some rides from there, they take it literally as a "landing" fee, meaning each landing. Had a discussion about that one time... Great place to visit and remember the Grand Hotel is just one of many to stay at on the island.
